Turkish speech, inside your phone
We are releasing our open-source Turkish model Antalia-2 Mini as a text-to-speech engine for Android. Once installed, TalkBack and every app that reads text aloud speak Turkish with it, entirely on the phone. The app has no internet permission; no text it reads leaves the phone.
- Offline
- No internet permission
- 7.6 million parameters
- Apache-2.0
- Android 7.0 and later
For almost every phone (arm64)
For 32-bit Android (armeabi-v7a) · 34.6 MBSome older and Android Go phones. If you are not sure, try the one above first; if the phone will not install it, use this one.
Version 0.1.0 · model 1.0.0 · 9 October 2026
Install
- Download the APK to your phone with the button above.
- Open the file. Android asks you to let your browser install apps: turn on Allow from this source and go back.
- Tap Install. Play Protect may say it does not know this developer; that warning is normal for apps distributed outside Google Play.
- Type text-to-speech into the Settings search box (on a Pixel: Accessibility › Text-to-speech output) and choose Antalia-2 Mini as the Preferred engine.
- Tap Play. Your phone speaks the example sentence by itself.
Use
- TalkBack
- Once the engine is selected, TalkBack reads Turkish text with Antalia-2 Mini. Text in other languages keeps using the phone's previous engine.
- Apps
- Every app that uses Android's text-to-speech service, such as audiobooks, navigation or translation, speaks with this engine.
- Fast mode
- In the app's settings: 4 synthesis steps instead of 8. About twice as fast, slightly less natural. For older phones.
- Speed test
- The app's Speed test measures the time to first audio and the speed on your phone. If you send the results to sezgin@patientdesk.ai, we can see together how it runs on different phones.

Privacy
The app asks for no internet permission, so Android gives it no network access. Text, audio and settings stay on the phone.
The model, the text normaliser and all computation are inside the app. No account, no analytics, no ads.
Good to know
- This is the first version. We have tested it on an Android 15 emulator so far, not on every phone.
- How fast it speaks depends on the phone. If it is slow on an older phone, turn on Fast mode in the app's settings.
- It reads Turkish only, with one voice.
- Updates do not arrive automatically. We will publish new versions on this page; they are signed with the same key, so they install over the current one.
- The file is about 35 MB; 23 MB of it is the model itself.
Open source
Antalia-2 Mini's weights and Python package are on Hugging Face under Apache-2.0. The Android engine's shell is adapted from sherpa-onnx's text-to-speech engine (k2-fsa, Apache-2.0); the model runs on ONNX Runtime (MIT).
